Team USA Fall Again and Canada Qualify for the WFC

Canada score first against USA in game 2 of the World Floorball Championships Qualifiers and are ahead up until the last couple of minutes of the game. Despite a late surge by team USA Canada can hold on and win by 4-5 thereby securing a spot at the WFC in Prague.

The opening period of game 2 is dramatic and Canada have several good chances though among other Brandon Barber but Terence Frank in the US goal stands tall. For team USA Alexander McVey comes in alone on Taylor Shipp but is unable to capitalize. Canada strikes twice in the period. First through Bill Petrie who rips one from just outside the goal area and then one by Felix Robillard on the powerplay, with under two minutes to go of the period. But USA answers 30 seconds later as Fabian Länzlinger pounces on a rebound of a William Eriksson shot, 1-2 after the first period.

The second period sees the Canadian team take control over the game. Barber scores in close and then Petrie scores his second of the game, on the powerplay, to make it 1-4 about eight minutes into the second period. Eriksson scores his second of the game to take Team USA within two at 2-4. He also gets the chance to score on a penalty shot but can't deke Shipp in goal.

In the third period team USA really pour it in. Shot after shot, chance after chance but they just can't beat Shipp. With five minutes to go of the period USA start taking out the goalie and playing six on five. 17:24 Raphael Möre scores, 3-4, 17:44 Mattias Hansen scored making it 4-4. Due to the loss in game one however team USA must win it by one to secure overtime. As USA keep taking shots Canada are able to find the empty net with only 18 seconds to play, 4-5, which is the final score.
